I finally found my Christmas day outfit

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

MULLED WINE

Greet the season and banish those winter chills with a warming glass. 

What you need

• 750ml bottle of red wine
• 60g demerara sugar
• 1 cinnamon stick
• A light grating of fresh nutmeg
• 2 star anise
• 1 orange, halved
• 60ml sloe gin, optional
• Star anise and sliced orange to garnish, optional

What you do

1. Place the wine, sugar, spices and orange in a large saucepan.
2. Heat gently until the sugar has dissolved. Taste; add a little more sugar if needed.
3. Remove from the heat and stir in the sloe gin, if required.
4. Using a small sieve or tea strainer, strain into heatproof glasses. Garnish with the star anise and orange, if required, and serve immediately

HOT BUTTERED RUM

What you need

• 1 cinnamon stick
• 1 long strand of lemon rind
• 60ml dark rum
• Hot water, to top up the glass
• Small pinch ground cloves
• Small knob butter

What you do

1. Tie the lemon rind around the cinnamon stick. Place into a heatproof glass and add the rum.
2. Pour in the hot water, add the ground cloves and top with the knob of butter, allowing it to melt on the surface before stirring in. Serve immediately.

CHRISTMAS COOKIE COCKTAIL

What you need

• 2 ginger biscuits, crushed
• 60ml peppermint schnapps
• 30ml Kahlúa®
• 90ml Baileys®
• 60ml Amarula
• Ice cubes

What you do

1. Place two martini glasses into the fridge, chill for 30 minutes.
2. Place the crushed ginger biscuits onto a saucer. Pour a small amount of cold water onto a separate saucer. To decorate the chilled glasses, dip the rims into the water, then into the biscuit crumbs.
3. Place the peppermint schnapps, Kahlúa, Baileys and Amarula into a cocktail shaker. Top up with ice cubes, shake well and strain into the glasses.
