HOPE SPRINGS

Kay (Meryl Streep) and Arnold (Tommy Lee Jones) are a devoted couple, but decades of marriage have left Kay wanting to spice things up.
When she hears of a renowned couple’s specialist (Steve Carell) in the small town of Great Hope Springs, she attempts to persuade her skeptical husband, a steadfast man of routine, to get on a plane for a week of marriage therapy. Just convincing the stubborn Arnold to go on the retreat is hard enough – the real challenge for both of them comes as they shed their bedroom hang-ups and try to re-ignite the spark that caused them to fall for each other in the first place.

 

 

  A poignant tale well told and beautifully acted by Meryl Streep, a doyenne to young actors everywhere.  Tommy Lee Jones proves he can play more than just grumpy old man with his touching performance. 

The characters were well illustrated by the acting and the writing.  It was easy to be drawn into the life of a couple who has been married for 30 years but have somehow lost each other on their journey.

When the couple go to couples counselling, its as if we are in the room with them and can feel their embarassment of being asked intimate questions about their relationship by the counsellor played by Steve Carel, who it was nice to see in a straight role.  Who can forget his 40 year old virgin.

It was nice to watch a movie where no 3D, guns, or Vampires were required.  A human story that could happen to anyone of us, has already happened, you might know this couple or be them.

Thoughts were provoked and there was much laughter as the audience recognized ourselves and each other in the funny little things people do whilst just living.

JUST CAVALLI:MILAN FASHION WEEK S/S 2013

Italian designer Roberto Cavalli drew his inspiration from the Mediterranean sea as he unveiled his Just Cavalli youthful collection for next summer in Milan on Friday.
Short dresses in sheer chiffon were sculpted with slits and prints to add movement to the marine-inspired creations.
Sheer silk blouses with sea horse prints were worn over skinny trousers or loose skirts and male models took to the catwalk in Bermuda sorts paired with structured organza jackets.
Others wore smoking jackets over silk trousers in contrasting animal and marine prints.



   

   
   

   
 

MILAN FASHION WEEK S/S 2013 : VERSACE

 

The Versace Versus brand saw a parade of 31 girls modelling as Beth Ditto sang live.  Once the girls finished walking the front row formed a mosh pit in front of Ditto, who was wearing a black dress, with plastic black, white and orange chains trimming the hem, waist, and neckline.

The collection featured cartoon prints, from large dots to love hearts and next seasons hottest fashion motif - the daisy.  Fabrics included sporty techno stretch mesh, patent leather, silks, and transparent printed plastic.

   
       

The mainline Versace collection featured a lot of flesh with thigh skimming short wispy gowns and trademark criss-cross leather lace up details.  Sparkly fringed belts and glittered chokers, tough looking long leather boots with high heels strutted down a flashing disco runway.

Masculine jackets cut long in length, some featured pretty lace panels.  Leather and lace was also used on shorts and mini dresses.  Crushed silk slip dresses were belted in tie-dye patterns or orange.
Tie-dye kaftans "that's very street style isn't it." Donatella said, adding, "which is what I wanted, but then I worried about whether they were sexy or feminine enough." 

   

   

   
   

   
   

"It was a tougher woman with the jackets but also for the first time I really wanted to show a more fragile side as well," Donatella explained after the show.  This idea she said was reflected in more fluid shapes.  On the style of print she said: "this is a house of prints and we could do anything but i felt this organic feeling with the tie-dye."

MILAN FASHION WEEK S/S 2013 PRADA

 

Miuccia Prada presented a collection that owed much of its inspiration to the land of the rising sun, Japan.  Pieces included Kimono wraps, wedge sandals worn with zip up metallic socks which were as Geisha as the red lips worn by the models on the runway.

origami folded satin tops, judo belts, boxy fur coats and stole silhouettes created by fur wraps to a deep v.

Flower motifs and embellishments were prevalent throughout the collection, Miuccia stated that the use of flowers were meant to be "a symbol of life for women and the huge struggle we always have."

The colour palette revolved around black, off white, and red, which also gave the collection an eastern feel.
