MILAN FASHION WEEK S/S 2013 PRADA

 

Miuccia Prada presented a collection that owed much of its inspiration to the land of the rising sun, Japan.  Pieces included Kimono wraps, wedge sandals worn with zip up metallic socks which were as Geisha as the red lips worn by the models on the runway.

origami folded satin tops, judo belts, boxy fur coats and stole silhouettes created by fur wraps to a deep v.

Flower motifs and embellishments were prevalent throughout the collection, Miuccia stated that the use of flowers were meant to be "a symbol of life for women and the huge struggle we always have."

MILAN FASHION WEEK S/S 2013;ARMANI

 

At Milan Fashion Week S/S 2013 Armani sent pairs of models down the runway for twice the impact.

A pale palette of pinks, lilacs, yellow, blue, and sea greens with hues toned down to a calm serene setting on the wheel of the colour spectrum.

Armani's caffeinated cappuchino colours were as serene as the designer himself when he took a bow at the end of his runway show.

 

 

 

 

 

 

   


 

 

 

 

 

VICTORIA PENDLETON

Did you see Victoria Pendleton on Strictly Come Dancing last Saturday, the Olympian gold medallist looked so stunning, we are not used to seeing her in anything but biking gear, so she took our breath away.  What a banging body.

All the years of cycling have definitely paid off. Not sure if she can dance, but she is a great ambassador for her sport.  Victoria is living proof the being in good shape is not just about being thin, but to be fit health and strong is what we should all be aiming for and looking thin in clothes is secondary to that.

 

MILAN FASHION WEEK;GUCCI S/S 2013

On the first day of Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013, Global brand Gucci served up a vibrant palette of colours, hot pinks, corals, electric blues and splashes of white hit the runway.

MILAN FASHION WEEK SPRING SUMMER 2013

 

The eyes of the worlds fashion industry focuses on Italy today for Milan Fashion Week and the hotly anticipated spring/summer 2013 collections from global brands Gucci, Prada, Versace, et al.

Gucci is set to kick off the shows, which will see 68 Italian and International brands start the runway in a week of shows.

Thursday will see Prada and Emporio Armani take the runway.  Friday will see Moschino and two Versace shows with a rock and roll party with a live band to show off Versace's Versus collection.

Saturday opens with designer Tomas Maier, who will unveil his latest collection for Bottega Veneta, followed by Jil Sander's hotly awaited collection for Fendi since rejoining as Creative Director.

On Sunday sees the turn of Marni, Dolce & Gabbana and Giorgio Armani, Armani will then host an inaugural party to show off a new exhibition to showcase his most memorable creations.

Milan Fashion Week winds up with DSquared2, Roberto Cavali and Gianfranco Ferrer on Monday, with Tuesday being dedicated to new up and coming designers.

While the luxury brands in a recession hit country are being squeezed, many fashion houses are concentrating their efforts abroad to growth economies like China and Brazil, there is still a bid to attract wealthy visitors to Italy's commercial capital.  A string of boutiques will be opening during fashion week on the exclusive Corso Matteotti, form Just Cavalli with a party on Friday to Lingerie brand Agent Provocateur.
