DIOR PARIS FASHION WEEK S/S 2013

image  The future looks bright for Dior thanks to Raf Simons.  "Sex, freedom, movement, sensuality, minimalism" were the motivation behind creative director Raf Simons's prêt-à-porter debut at Dior.

Dior's sparkling spring/summer 2013 eyes
If international make-up artist Pat McGrath creates a backstage beauty look at the shows, chances are we're going to be wearing it on our faces a few months later.
A model sports sparkling eyes on the Dior spring/summer 2013 runway
So get your eye in for her brightly coloured lined, smoked or winged eye in shades of aqua, hot pink, lime green, cool lilac and red.

In the same way Raf Simons blended colours and textures for the collection, so did McGrath for her shadow palette. Taking childlike glitter, coloured crystals and primary swatches McGrath used textures (think intense pigments, glass like glitter not sparkles, and fine crystals) and her signature feline angles (pulling the eyes up and out) for something all together more edgy and grown up.

ISABEL MARANT PARIS FASHION WEEK S/S 2013

Isabel Marant at the end of her spring/summer 2013 show.
"I think it's just a normal woman. You know, I am doing pret-a-porter and it says what it says: 'ready to wear'. My main concern in doing garments is doing things that you really feel like wearing every day not only for special occasions. Clothes in which you feel at ease, self-confident and pretty - a bit different too - and which leave space for the personality of each woman to be asserted.
Every day I open my cupboard and say 'OK, what can I wear this morning?' I have to drive my scooter around Paris, I have to take my son to school, and then I go to the office and afterwards I have to rush because I have a nice dinner - so I just try to figure out what we need.
Each time when I am starting the collection I am having a theme, but I don't want to stay too close to an exact image otherwise it becomes too literal. For this collection, well, I have always loved the Hawaiian print, and I thought of Elvis in Hawaii - that's why he was on the soundtrack for the show. Also I thought 'what is summer?' and 'what is vacation?'. There were those pictures of Bardot and Birkin walking on the port in St Tropez in the early Seventies - wearing simple clothes but with an attitude and a confidence.
