You reference the book Blue Tattoo as a source of inspiration for SS13 – how did this feed into your designs?
We worked with royal blues and contrasting colours like acid yellow and bright hues of amber stones. Through the blues we wanted to accentuate Victorian austerity and with the warm colours bring contrast to the blue and create the heat of the desert to reflect Olive’s journey in the book. This collection was a journey to explore how one individual can express oneself through very structural and clean lines with flowy, gentle shapes and fabrications. We have also created the ‘Tattoo Dress’ that is fully hand-beaded and inspired by various American tribal body tattoos and symbols.
