TOMMY HILFIGER; NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2016
“This girl right here, she’s the one,” said Tommy Hilfiger, backstage after his spring/summer 2016 show in New York.
He was pointing at a picture of Gigi Hadid (above) in a crochet bikini, his favourite look in a collection that took the sandy beaches of Mustique as its theme and ran with it.
Mustique, Tommy-style, saw guests taking their folding wooden seats on a sand-strewn floor, ogling the giant swimming pool circled by a boardwalk catwalk as they went, and taking in the palm trees, a Bob Marley soundtrack and a Tiki bar (furnished with a chess set, for models seeking diversion).
BACKSTAGE NEW YORK FASHION WEEK
Lets get backstage up close and personal to see the hair and beauty looks of Spring/Summer 2016
Diane von FurstenbergJewel-toned blue-green eyeshadow was the focus of Pat McGrath's look at Diane von Furstenberg, finished with plenty of mascara.
Diane von FurstenbergLips were painted with a subtle gloss, whilst skin was gleaming and brows defined.
Derek LamA flash of yellow under the eyes contrasted with Tom Pecheux's otherwise natural faces at Derek Lam - blush, powder and a subtle coating of mascara.
Victoria Beckham - Several of the models wore a pop of orange-red on their lips, whilst the others were left natural.
Alexander WangHair, by Guido Palau, was idiosyncratic. A few girls had their locks chopped off for the show, whilst curls, fringes and unusual hair colours all stayed put to allow individuals' own styles to be showcased.
Altuzarra - Tom Pecheux created a pared-back look at Altuzarra, with beige-toned eyeshadow and gleaming skin.
GivenchyThe most talked-about looks were those McGrath created from jewels, pearls and lace, worn mask-like and with each adornment applied one by one.
GivenchyThe two models with the biggest gowns on the catwalk were given a bold berry lip instead - including lipstick lover Joan Smalls
GivenchyHair was, for the most part, worn centre-parted and tucked behind models' ears, but those with bejewelled faces were given messy up-dos finished with metal hairbands, by Luigi Murenu.
Jason WuAt Jason Wu, make-up artist Yadim focused upon a satiny red lip, leaving the rest of the face bare.
Jason WuOdile Gilbert styled the hair in ultra-neat ballet knots to show off models' necks.
